Actress Sara Paxton has vowed to stay away from haunted houses in 2012 after a series of spooky encounters in the past two years.

The Last House on The Left star agreed to stay in the spirit-friendly guest house where her scary new thriller The Innkeepers was shot during filming - and she still wishes she had checked into a more modern place nearby.

The old inn, The Yankee Pedlar in Connecticut, was the site of a famous tragedy and the place was crawling with ghosts.

Paxton tells BlogtalkRadio.com, "The Yankee Pedlar is supposed to be super haunted so I was really nervous about it. A lot of weird stuff did happen but I couldn't tell if it was really ghosts or a really old building. My doors would randomly violently fly open, lights would flicker on and off; the phone would ring and nobody would be on the other end of the line.

"I'd wake up in the middle of the night, sitting straight up from weird dreams. Because we were living there, I didn't want to freak myself out because I'd never be able to sleep so I kept telling myself, 'It's the wind,' even though my windows were closed."

And the actress admits she has a habit of finding herself in America's spookiest haunts.

She adds, "The summer before last I was in New Orleans. I just happened to be filming a movie in Shreveport, Louisiana and I decided to take a road trip during my days off with a few of the cast members... I just packed a bag with some money and when I got there I randomly picked a hotel. They were like, 'We have two rooms available - one with a balcony and one for only $60-a-night, but there's no windows.' I took the $60 one and it was in the basement.

"I opened the door and instantly the smell of burned hair was in my face. It was creepy and I did not get a good vibe. I went online and I Googled their number, so I wouldn't have to go upstairs to the front desk and all over my Google web browser it said, 'Most haunted hotel in New Orleans'.

"It used to be an old school and all the children burned to death! I freaked out!! It reeked like burned hair. We changed rooms to the one with the balcony, and, in the middle of the night, my clothes were scattered everywhere. I did go out that night drinking, so I thought maybe I had one too many hurricanes (cocktails) and just rampaged the room and threw my stuff around.

"But the next morning, when I was checking out, they told me it was one of the little children that died in the room that was moving my stuff! I'm like, 'Get me outta this place... No more little dead kids!'"

Sara Paxton is ready to get rid of some ghosts in The Innkeepers.

The 23-year-old actress spoke with Nylon mag about seeing the flick for the first time, “I had no idea what to expect and the first time I saw it was at SXSW watching in the theater. I think I might’ve screamed louder than most people in there!”

She added, “What’s cool is that this movie doesn’t follow that same horror movie formula, where you know what’s coming. It’s like, the girl is in the bathroom in front of the the medicine cabinet…. sheâ€™s brushing her teeth… she closes it and thereâ€™s a dude behind her. Dun dun dun! It’s different.”

Sara also commented about how playing a model on The Beautiful Life was one of her most difficult roles yet: “Playing a model was the hardest thing I’ve done. Hereâ€™s the thing, you think it would be easy, like â€˜whatever, Iâ€™ll walk down the runway and wear the outfit.â€™ But everything is made for these super-skinny, 5â€™11â€, 6â€™ tall women, so the clothes didnâ€™t fit.

“And then, walking down the runway was so hard because they had all these real models. One day I got so frustrated and I almost started crying, and Ashton [Kutcher] had to calm me down. It was tough (laughs).”

The InnKeepers hits theaters on February 3rd.

Some psychoanalysts might look at Sara Paxton’s recent filmography—The Last House on The Left, Shark Night 3D, and Enter Nowhere—and suggest that the 23-year-old actress is something of a masochist. Time and time again, the L.A. native has put herself in onscreen situations where her character may or may not lose a limb. Her most recent foray into the macabre is the Ti West-helmed The Innkeepers, in which Paxton plays a plucky hotel clerk who must ghost bust her way through the haunted inn’s final days of operation. Here is the refreshingly candid Paxton on bed bugs, Anthony Bourdain, and her worst fears.

You’ve said in the past that you’re not really a horror movie person, but you’ve done quite a few of them. Explain yourself.
I’m not a horror movie fan. Granted, because I’ve been in so many the past couple years, I have explored horror movies, and I’m a big pansy, so they usually scare me. After The Ring I thought ‘Dude, I’m fucking done with this.’ I was afraid the girl was going to crawl out of the TV for a week, so yeah, I’m a big baby. But The Innkeepers is not quite a horror movie. There’s comedy, it’s definitely unique.

How is it different from your average haunted house movie?
Well, I think the problem with a lot of horror movies right now is that it’s just the same old shtick over and over again, which is fine, some people like that, but I think The Innkeepers is a really good movie first. Period. And second, it’s a horror-ish movie. The first half of the movie is a romantic comedy, and the characters are well developed. Because the characters are so well developed, when something bad happens to them you’re more scared because you care about them.

Ti West has established himself as an up and coming horror director. What’s it like hanging out with a guy who’s clearly got some dark stuff happening upstairs?
I love Ti, he’s awesome. I got involved in the movie because I was working on another movie, and I don’t know how it works with agents, but I guess he heard that I was working on a movie with a friend of his, and we spoke on the phone and met and we got along really well. Ti is one of the best directors I’ve ever worked with, and I’ve worked with some really awesome people that I love, but for being so young, he’s so good, he’s so specific, and he knows what he wants with everything. It just makes my job a lot easier, and we were laughing, having the best time ever. I knew every single person’s name on the crew; we all lived together when we were filming this movie. The Yankee Pedlar Inn that the movie takes place in is a real place. You can go to Torrington Connecticut right now and walk into the inn and feel like you’re walking into the movie.

What was it like living in the hotel?
When we were filming, Ti told us the hotel is really haunted, and weird shit happens there. I don’t believe in ghosts, but it was just a really weird place. It was all askew, built in the 1800s with bad seventies renovations. My door would violently fly open in the middle of the night, and there were no windows open, and my lights would flicker on and off. Everyone had this experience. The phone would ring, and nobody would be there, and there was nobody at the front desk. It was super scary.

Method acting at its finest.
Seriously! The worst part about it was we were all friends, and we were filming in this tiny ass town with no place to go. So we would just sit on the porch of the inn in rocking chairs drinking beer, and this woman came up to me and was like ‘Oh I love this hotel, and I was married in this hotel, and my son was conceived in this hotel! Great memories in room 333!’ I freaked out and just ran to Ti’s room and started banging on his door screaming, ‘Change my sheets! Change my sheets!’ So yeah, that was traumatizing.

Are you the kind of actor that gets really close with the people you’re shooting with?
Yes, definitely. It’s hard because I like to know every single person’s name, and totally joke around, and it’s hard at first because people always think ‘Oh it’s the actress, and she’s going to be a total bitch.’ But eventually they realize that I just want to hang out. All the grips gave me a goodbye card when we left; it was a picture of them in their Christmas sweaters, and I still have it. That’s the best part about my job, I get to meet cool people and hang out with them. It’s like camp all the time.

Throughout the film your character experiences some pretty grim stuff in the hotel. What’s the worst hotel experience you’ve ever had?
When I first moved to New York, I was sitting on the subway, reading the paper, and it was like ‘Bed Bugs! Taking over New York!’ and I was like “Losers! Who gets fucking bed bugs! Pussies!’

I’ve had bed bugs, but I’m not a pussy, I swear.
Well that’s the thing! Two weeks later I had bed bugs, and it sucked! We were starting to shoot in a day, and I woke up and I had welts all over my face and they said ‘You look like shit! We can’t film!’ I was hideous! So my friend got me a deal at the Thompson in the Lower East Side, and I just booked it there. I was naked, covered in Calamine lotion, crying alone. Nobody would come visit me.

You become an outcast the moment word spreads that you have them.
I was! I was in full-blown Howard Hughes mode, scratching myself, laying on the floor covered in tissues. That was pretty lonely and terrible, I know that.

In The Girl With a Dragon Tattoo Rooney Mara goes to some pretty intense physical extremes for the role. It reminded me a lot of what your character went through in Last House on The Left? How do you get yourself to such a dark place?
Well, first I think Rooney did an amazing job. I’m a huge fan of the books, so she looked just as I envisioned Lisbeth in my mind, and I thought she was really, really good. She was badass. But it’s hard because the character I play in Last House on the Left is so different from Lisbeth. For me, it felt like so much physical work every day, like running through the woods, and the assault scene, so everyday was this workout and I was exhausted. At times you have to go to some uncomfortable places, but it all works. There’s a big assault scene in the movie and you don’t even need to act. You feel uncomfortable and you don’t like it, so it all just worked for me.

What scares you in real life?
I have two big phobias. Number one is vomit. Not just me vomiting. I have a vomit sixth sense. I know when someone’s going to puke and I’ll just rush out of the building. I’ll just book it. I was filming a movie once and I was the only girl, so all the boys didn’t invite me out drinking. So it was 5 o’clock in the morning, and they had been out until 2, and we’re in a van headed to set, and my sixth sense starts kicking in. I see the guy next to me, and he’s looking green so I think ‘Fuck, this guy’s about to blow, I have to get out of here.’ But the van was moving so I started yelling ‘Can you stop the van? Can you stop the van?’ and they said ‘Nope. We have to go to set.’ and I literally jumped out of the moving van.

What is it about puke that gets to you, besides the obvious?
I don’t know. I’ve always been terrified of it, and I’ve had it since I was a kid. My other phobia is cockroaches.

I can’t even look at a photo of a spider without totally freaking out.
Dude I get it! I’m the same with cockroaches! When I see one on the street--do you know how many strangers I’ve jumped on? I’ve jumped on top of strange men. They probably liked it, but I didn’t.

Are there limits to what you’re willing to put yourself through for a role?
I think it depends. It depends on who you’re working with and if I feel totally connected to the material then no, I’ll do whatever if it takes. If I love something, and I want it to be the best, then I’ll do whatever it takes for it to be the best.

You’ve been in the business since you were a child. Do you ever feel like a grizzled veteran, or do you still get wide-eyed and excited?
It depends. Yes I’ve been doing this since I was a kid, but when I was really little, I wasn’t really doing it, it was more like an after-school activity. I would do like two commercials a year. It didn’t become this serious thing until I was in my teens, when I started doing movies and stuff. Then I quit for a while because I wanted to be a veterinarian. I was never home schooled, I got good grades, I wanted to go to college, but when I quit for a year, I really missed it and I realized it’s what I want to do. I feel like with each experience, it kind of beats you down, because it’s not this big glamorous job that everyone thinks it is. It’s funny because when I talk to people that have seen me in a movie, they’ll say things like ‘Do you know Robert Pattinson?’ and I’m like ‘No, I don’t. I don’t know if you know this, but I’m not that famous!’ So yeah, that can beat you down, but as long as I keep getting to meet unique and awesome people I’m happy.

Actors have a tendency to say they have the best job in the world. But tell me, what’s the worst part about being an actress?
Don’t get me wrong, not to be corny, but I feel blessed. I know people that would give their right arm to do what I do. But listen, I’m not really famous, so it’s not like I come into work and people are like ‘What can I do for you? Here’s your giant Will Smith trailer!’ I mean, it’s just not like that. I’m just an actress. People point and tell me where to stand and what to do constantly. So you have to be really patient and be okay with being told what do all the time. And sometimes I feel like I have to sell out and people are always like ‘Who are you? You look familiar! Are you famous?’ And it’s like, if you have to ask then no.

Do you live in LA?
I do. I’m from California. I grew up in a suburb 45 minutes outside of Los Angeles.

What do you love most about coming to New York?
I love New York. I lived here for a little bit when I was working on a television show, and we all had to move to New York and I freaking love it. I wish I could live here if I could afford it.

You could get a nice apartment in Brooklyn couldn’t you?
I would but the problem is I have a condo in L.A. so I can’t do both. If I could sell my condo and move to New York I would totally do that. I love Los Angeles, but there’s a whole different energy in New York that I love. Everyone’s walking, everyone’s going somewhere. In California it’s like ‘Hey! Do you want to meet me at this bar?’ and I’m just like ‘Ugh. I have to take off the sweat pants, I have to get ready, I have to drive.’ In New York it’s just ‘Shit! Let me get a cab!’ And the people are just a lot more awesome. A lot of my friends in New York assure me that there’s douchebags here too, but in L.A. it’s just like ‘What do you do? ‘Oh I’m an actress, but I’m a bartender, but I’m like really an actress.’ And I’m just like ‘Shit, how am I going to make friends.’

I was going through your Twitter and saw that you were enjoying yourself in Eataly recently.
Oh my god! Dude I’m such a foodie. I love love love Anthony Bourdain. I would poop myself if I got to meet him. I’ve read all his books, I watch his show whenever I can.

Have you seen his new show The Layover?
I love it. It’s awesome. It’s so great. Um, so ya. I went to Eataly with all the Magnolia Pictures people and Ti, and I was just in cured meat heaven and just rubbing cheese on my face.

If you had to pick a last meal, what would it be?
Oh God the options are endless! I think it would have to be Mexican food. I know it’s weird but my mom is Mexican, so if I’m dying I want to be comforted. And I usually cannot move afterwards, so they’ll just have to wheel me to the electric chair.

Having quite the exciting time during her weekend in the snowy paradise of Park City, Emma Roberts packed in a full day of activity at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday (January 21).

The "Hotel for Dogs" darling spent the afternoon visiting the Burton Lounge at Park City Mountain Resort, where she strapped on a snowboard and hit the slopes - having a good laugh as she took a few spills along the way.

Later in the evening, Emma changed up outfits and took to the second day of T-Mobile Presents Google Music at TAO to catch performances by Vintage Trouble and The Whigs.

Having premiered her new movie "Celeste and Jesse Forever" the previous night, Emma spoke with MTV News about her character in the film, saying, "I got to bring together every pop star and mold it into one person. [But] my hair is definitely Ke$ha. I have these fabulous long, blond, slightly ratty extensions. I miss those dearly."

Also showing off her singing abilities in the motion picture, Roberts told, "We recorded a song that Rashida [Jones] co-wrote with a bunch of people, and it's just wildly entertaining and inappropriate and it's kind of a dance anthem. That same night, a source tells us Roberts begged another woman to relinquish the cab they simultaneously hailed on Main St. in blizzard-like conditions. “Please let me take it, I’ve had the worst day ever,” Roberts told the woman, who graciously gave up the ride home.

ANTHONY MACKIE says he’ll be just fine if he never acts again. At Thursday’s after-party for Cinema Society and Gilt Man’s screening of “Man of a Ledge” at Acme, Mackie, who stars in the movie, told us that opening his Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, drinking den NoBar last year has turned out to be “the best way to make legal money.” The venture is so successful, he says he plans a second outpost in Williamsburg in April. But Mackie vowed he’ll “never” open across the East River. When Manhattan bars and nightclubs “start accepting pounds and euros, that’s when you know it’s over,” Mackie said.

The 20-year-old actress offers a new take on the Millennium trilogy's savvy heroine, Lisbeth Salander, by portraying her as a floozy in a sketch entitled The Girl With the Tramp Stamp Tattoo on comedy website Funny or Die.

Roberts said in an interview with Yahoo that she has enjoyed exploring more "adult" roles.

"I love doing kind of more kiddish-oriented movies, but I also love doing adult things. And I think it's fun to do a mix," she explained. "You know, things where you're playing your age and things that maybe are more mature."

The star continued: "So, I just kind of take my stuff based on the material and not so much [based on] how old I'm supposed to be or what the audience is supposed to [think]."

Roberts was recently rumoured to dating Glee star Chord Overstreet, after being spotted with the actor in London and Malibu.

When quizzed about the romance, Roberts said: "I would love to just not even answer that question because... that's kind of awkward. I just don't like talking about my relationships or anything like that, in any reference."

Roberts will next star opposite Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in Celeste and Jesse Forever, which will be released in 2012.

The screen beauty - who is the niece of Julia Roberts and daughter of Eric Roberts - blames her family genes for the trait but says she doesn't mind the imperfection because it makes her look more interesting.

Emma Roberts' resume is full of family fare, from 2006's sweet fantasy "Aquamarine" to 2007's big screen version of "Nancy Drew" to last year's star-studded "Valentine's Day." But one of the 20-year-old's most recent flicks, "The Art of Getting By," is more like a scene out of the book Catcher In the Rye than one from the Nickelodeon show, "Unfabulous," which made her famous. She plays Sally, a popular girl at her school who befriends another student (Freddie Highmore) who has conned his way through life up to this point. The two have some serious conversations and find that they have a lot more in common than they thought. Emma talked to omg! about the movie, which was recently released on DVD, what she's working on next, and some of her fashion faves.

What is it about "The Art of Getting By" that you connected with?
I just thought it felt like such an honest story. And I feel like when there are movies regarding young people they always seem a little contrived. And to me this one felt so real and just really sweet and it reminded me of a lot of my other favorite romance movies like "500 Days of Summer" or even some older ones. [It was] "Breakfast Club"-ish. So, that's what I loved about it.

It had an ending where you don't quite know what will happen to the characters, and so does another current movie that you're not in but I read you really enjoyed, "Like Crazy." What is it that you appreciate about ambiguous endings?
I think endings left open or ambiguous like you said sound good just because they're like life. There's no real ending in life when it comes to relationships, you know, as far as [being] clear cut. I think that ["The Art of Getting By"] was just very honest in the way that it was like I don't know what's going to happen next, but I'll be ready for it.

You first became famous as a child. Do you feel like you've transitioned into more adult roles now? Do you feel pressured to do that?

Yeah, I felt like this was the first time that I got to play someone my age, but in a real way, you know? This is how most 17- and 18-year-olds actually do act.

Is your movie "Springbreakers" with Harmony Korine, the man who directed the gritty "Kids," still on? (She's rumored to be co-starring in the film about four co-eds who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break trip and are bailed out by a drug dealer who wants payback, alongside James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, and Heather Morris.)
Yeah, it should happen next year. I'm really excited about that. And there's not really much I can say now because nothing is for sure, but I hope that comes together. ... We're still figuring everything out.

You enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College this fall. How is school going?
I've been more focusing on work right now than school ... kind of trying to figure out how to find a balance where I can commit to school and also work because it's really difficult. When I was younger it was hard just doing three hours of school on the set. It was so hard to focus while you were doing it. So, you definitely learn how to multitask.

How have the other students reacted to you being around?
I just tried to fit right in and go about my business and do what everyone else was doing. It really wasn't a big deal. And now I'm not even there. So, we'll see when I go back.

Will that be next semester?
I honestly don't know yet. It depends on work.

You've been seen with Chord Overstreet and you've done some singing (her 2005 debut album was called Unfabulous and More). That got me thinking ... Would you ever want to be on "Glee"?
I would love to just not even answer that question because ... that's kind of awkward. I just don't like talking about my relationships or anything like that, in any reference. Thank you.

OK. Do you think you'll ever sing again?
I don't know. [I would] maybe do some sort of musical. That would be cool, but I don't know. I love acting and that's my main focus. And if singing happens to go along with something then of course, but it's not something that I'm pursuing outside of acting.

You're known for your love of fashion. How do you decide what to wear to an event?
I have stylists. They're the Maude Girls [designers Emily Current and Meritt Elliott]. And they actually design Current/Elliott jeans, which are my favorite. And with them I kind of collaborate. They have a whole a bunch of stuff and bring it over to my house, and we'll look through everything and decide what fits right and what doesn't. For everyday, I just try to put together whatever I like and whatever is comfortable and … whatever just makes [me] feel good.

I saw on Twitter that you said you'll be sharing some of your favorite beauty and fashion items every month. What inspired you to do that?
I always find such cool things in general, like beauty and fashion, but also books and stuff like that. And I want to share it with people because when you find something that you love and it works, you want other people to also be able to share in that.

What are some of your favorites now?
I think [Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's upscale line] Elizabeth and James has such cool stuff for everyday [wear], but also for red carpet. And then I love -- Have you been on [the website for Rachel Bilson's new shoe line] ShoeMint? That's my obsession right now. I love it. They have such cool shoes and they're affordable and really, really cute. [They average about $80 a pair.]

Shark Night Coming to Blu-ray, But Not in 3D

Last fall's latest deadly fish horror thriller Shark Night will look for new victims when it washes ashore on Blu-ray and DVD on January 3, 2012.

Shark Night starring Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack, Katharine McPhee, Chris Zylka, Alyssa Diaz, Joel David Moore and Sinqua Walls was marketed as Shark Night 3D when it was released theatrically on September 2. The "3D" has been dropped for the home video debut, and thus far there's no sign of a Blu-ray 3D version in sight.

Fox has been slow to adopt Blu-ray 3D, releasing a handful of titles as either hardware or retail exclusives with little fanfare or publicity. The January 3 release date is perfect timing to take advantage of what will be thousands of new 3D HDTV owners come Christmas morning given the much lower prices this year, yet Fox is still giving the cold shoulder to the format.

There's a chance Shark Night could still appear on Blu-ray 3D as a Best Buy exclusive like Rio and a few other titles did. I'll share that information should it come to pass.

The Blu-ray edition of Shark Night will be presented in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Bonus features include:

With the holiday season upon us, the stars have already started making appearances at the numerous Christmastime special events being held around the globe.

On Friday night (December 2), singer JoJo joined "American Idol" alums including Pia Toscano, Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams for the Fourth Annual Holiday Tree Lighting at L.A. LIVE & Opening Of L.A. Kings Ice at Nokia Plaza in Los Angeles, California.

Hosted by Sam Rubin, the night's wintry festivities included a rendition of "The Christmas Song" by Miss Toscano alongside Piero Barone, Gianluca Ginoble and Ignazio Boschetto of the group Il Volo.

With video of the performances available in the player above, Miss Reinhart and Mr Abrams paired up for a fun-filled take on the classic "Baby It's Cold Outside" while JoJo treated the packed crowd to tunes including her hit single "Disaster".

David R. Ellis Latest Name Attached to 'Clock Tower'

With nine projects currently in-development, Shark Night 3D director David R. Ellis is a busy man. Although a live-action adaptation of anime Kite is his next project, Ellis has revealed details about two horror films on his "To Do List."

Sara Paxton is attached to star in The Briar Lake Murders and Ellis, who's directing, told Australian stringer Maria Lewis (@moviemazz) that the film follows a traditional killer in the woods storyline.

"It's a movie about these kids that go on vacation and there's a serial killer out there," he said. "It's got a good script and good people involved; I'm just not sure how soon that's going to happen."

The more interesting of the two sounds like The Thing-inspired Clock Tower which Ellis said is a "cool" supernatural horror. (Editor's note: The project has been in development for over 6 years now and this is the first time it has been reported that Ellis is attached.)

"Clock Tower is about a spirit force that takes over peoples bodies and makes them do really horrific things," he said.

"It kind of goes from body to body searching for people with an elevated heartbeat.

"At the right time it gets in there and people go crazy and start killing other people.

"It's really well written and it's going to be a lot of fun."

The project has been in development for years and concerns a young woman who receives a disturbing phone call from her estranged mother warning her not to come home. When she investigates, she uncovers a terrible supernatural truth from her past. Martin Weisz was previously attached as was Jorge Olguin back in 2006.

Both films are slated with a 2012 release but you can expect that to be pushed back considering the "big budget" nature of Kite, which is currently in pre-production. Set to film in South Africa, Ellis revealed in September that he was going after Blake Lively or Jennifer Lawrence to star as the heroine in the edgy thriller set in a post-apocalyptic Japan.

Sara Paxton's new role has bite

SHE'S supremely spunky and always up for a laugh, but 23-year-old Sara Paxton is under no illusions as to where she sits on the Hollywood ladder.

"I want to do everything," says the California girl who started out as a kid alongside Jim Carrey in 1997's Liar Liar.

"But it's a hard business. There's so many actresses, there's so many good actresses, there's so many pretty actresses ... It's really hard to break into that club where you're at the top and getting offered amazing roles. I'm not there yet. I would like to be there. As long as I keep working and doing my best, hopefully some day I'll get there."

It wasn't until she was 17 that Paxton decided acting was more than just a fun sideline. Still, she's crammed in a lot since.

"I'm fortunate to always be working. There hasn't been a time when I'm bored and sad," she says. "Being young, everything's like, 'More, more, more!' Sometimes my mum will be like, 'Don't get down, you've done a lot, you're fine'. But I like to keep going."

Paxton is speaking from a Pittsburgh hotel where she's making an as-yet-untitled romantic comedy that's also a musical.

"I grew up singing and dancing, but I haven't done this choreographed Glee stuff in years - it's a crash-course reminder," she laughs. "I've been doing so many horror movies the past few years that when this came around, I was like, 'Yeah, it's different'."

Those horror films include 2009's The Last House on the Left in which she endured some harrowing scenes. Her latest is Shark Night 3D - teens in bikinis attacked by sharks! It may be another horror movie on her resum aac, but she gets something different out of each one.

"Shark Night, it was much more of an action movie to me," she says. "I had never done so many stunts and action sequences. We trained with Navy SEALs, learning to do all the underwater fight sequences."

Such rough 'n' tumble is "a rude shock for me every single project I do", she says. "I read the script and I'm like, 'Yeah, fun!' Then when we're actually doing it I'm like, 'Ohhh, hard work, hard work'."

Wearing a bikini "all day, every day" in front of the crew was another thing for which Paxton wasn't prepared - "But by the end it was sort of unnaturally natural".

She admits to "freaking out" during long periods of underwater shooting and hasn't been near a body of water since. "I'm scared of sharks to begin with, even before this movie came around," she says.

So why on earth did she do Shark Night?

"Like I said, every time I'm like, 'Oooh, speedboats! Summertime! Fun!' Then they're like, 'Get in the crocodile-infested lake' and I'm like, 'What? That wasn't in the script!' "

On Saturday November 19th at Siren Studios in Hollywood, Xbox Kinect teamed up with Give Back Hollywood for the Miracle of Music pre-AMA benefit to support Childen's Miracle Network.

The event, which was hosted by Kevin Jonas and raised money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and their Millions of Miracles Campaign. The crowd was treated with an amazing performance by AMA new artist winner, Hot Chelle Rae and the son of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, who goes by the name DJ C-Ssquared, showed off his skills behind the turntable.

Soulja Boy, Estelle, Candace Cameron Bure, Shar Jackson, blogger Perez Hilton, Boo Boo Stewart and Joanna "JoJo" Levesque were among the celebrities to support the cause, playing Xbox and tweeting from the Matrix lounge (who donated $250 to the Childrens Miracle Network for every tweet) all in the name of philanthropy.

Snakes and Piranhas have taken all the headlines recently when it comes to exploitation creature features, so Hollywood decided to bring it back to where it all began, with sharks… in 3D! But will ‘Shark Night 3D’ make a big splash?

Sara (Sara Paxton) and a group of six college friends head to her house on an island in Louisiana for a holiday filled with sun, sea and… sharks! Their peaceful break is disturbed by a giant shark, intent on killing anything and everything that enters the ocean. With their friend Malik (Sinqua Walls) injured, and only a couple of colourful locals for help, the group try to survive and find a way to get to safety before they end up in a watery grave.

Aside from ‘Jaws’, the most obvious comparison to make to this would be the boobs ‘n’ blood exploitation piece ‘Piranha 3D’, which scooped up a whole lot of money at the box office and whose success no doubt inspired this film into production. However, ‘Piranha’ at least had a tongue in cheek feel to proceedings, presenting itself almost as a comedy. ‘Shark Night’ opts for a more earnest approach, which results in a film which is more nasty than exploitative. Surprisingly, however, it’s remarkably dull- even the death, which have their share of gore and ‘jump-out-of-your-seat’ value, are nothing to write home about. So, if the titillation and violence is lacking surely the story will carry you along? Not particularly. Rednecks, students, not dreadful storytelling but nothing different from the average slasher/disaster flick.

The cast aren’t here to grab your attention, only to appear human enough that you may be bothered when the shark comes a-chomping. Of all of the cast Sara Paxton is probably the most memorable as Sara, and for entirely opposite reason Joshua Leonard (most notably one of the three ‘missing’ filmmakers from notorious 90’s horror ‘The Blair Witch Project’) as twisted hillbilly Red.

Overall a surprisingly bland film, which remembers the shock and gore, but forgets to bring humour or originality. Not terrible by any means, but proof if any were needed that having “3D” in the title is no guarantee of quality.

Remember Joanna "JoJo" Levesque, the 13-year-old singer that performed songs that seemed to be too mature for her age? Well, she is definitely not 13 anymore and is making her way back into the music scene.

After the brief successes of her first two albums, "JoJo" and "The High Road," we haven't seen much of the young songstress, but she is coming out of the woodwork after dealing with years of difficulty from her record label and letting her voice shine once again.

With the forthcoming release of her new album, "Jumping Trains," in early 2012 and the newfound maturity of her first single off the track, "Disaster," JoJo is rising up for another shot at fame.

JoJo has always been known for being talented, but she would disappear from the scene as quickly as she came. She had success with her first big hit, "Leave (Get Out)" in 2004, and then again with "Too Little Too Late" in 2006, but does anyone remember anything from in-between the two?

Despite the reputation of her singles leading a short shelf life, "Disaster" has only received good reviews so far.

Now 20, the singer-songwriter is all grown-up and back with a new powerful single, 'Disaster,' and forthcoming third studio album, 'Jumping Trains,' a title informed by her transition into young adulthood. JoJo is also set to hit the road with Joe Jonas and Jay Sean on their upcoming, co-headlining fall tour.

JoJo stopped by AOL Music to talk working with her "mad scientist" music idol, Timbaland, her ambitions to change the sound of radio, and to reveal how she discovered she was 'The Other Chick.' Read up on all this and more in our exclusive interview with JoJo.

What is the significance of the title of your new album, 'Jumping Trains'?

'Jumping Trains' is a song on the album and I thought that it would be appropriate for the title, because of what it represents. It means transitioning from one chapter to another. So for me, it symbolizes moving from Boston to L.A., transitioning from being a girl to a young woman. Moving out of my mom's house, living on my own, and leaving some negativity behind and moving forward.

So the way I wrote the song, it's about leaving a relationship that you feel is holding you back, and wanting to go out and see the world and not just being someone's girlfriend. It's about being a full person and living up to your potential. So, I thought that jumping trains would be a great title because it just means constant forward motion.

Was the song 'Jumping Trains' written about anyone in particular?

All these songs are written about real-life situations that I went through. Sometimes they're mean, brutally honest, but I wanted to be really transparent.

What about your song 'The Other Chick' -- did that happen to you?

It's a buzz single and it was a cool thing to warm up the marketplace and show people that I have something a little edgier than when I was 15, when I was last out. That is about dealing with the feelings of being humiliated. Believing one truth and realizing that it was a total lie, and just being like, "Damn, I'm the side chick?! Word?!" You know, because we never think that that can happen to us. And then it does.

How has your material evolved and how have you evolved as an artist since we last heard from you as a teenager?

I think that I grew as a songwriter most significantly, but also in my vocal control. I think that that's just something that happens naturally over time, and with studying and shedding, as we say. And just going through life. I go into every session with a purpose and I'm not goofing around. I'm super-serious. This isn't my first time on the merry-go-round. This is my third album and it was really important to me that I made it count.

And also, I feel like more than ever with this album, I'm able to connect with each song and not just sing lyrics, but really feel them. I know that might sound corny, but I feel like it's my responsibility as an artist and a songwriter to be honest in my performance and my delivery. It's something that I take really seriously. I think that because I was able to co-write or write virtually every song on this album, I had no choice but to really connect, because it was my truth.

What producers are you working with?

A variety of different people, from Danja, Rodney Jerkins, the Messengers, the Interns, just to name a few. What was cool was that I got to work with veterans in the game, and I got to take a chance on some new people, who have really fresh ideas.

Any collaborations?

Yeah, but I can't tell you. It's top secret!

OK, well how was it working with Timbaland on his album 'Shock Value II'?

Timbaland is a unique individual. He's a genius. He's like a mad scientist, like really [laughs]! So it was intimidating to work with him, I was nervous. I grew up being inspired by the way that he changed the sound of radio, with Aaliyah specifically and with Missy [Elliott]. I remember exactly where I was when I heard 'Are You That Somebody' and I remember saying, "Is that a baby crying? What in the world is that?" I think if any of us tried to say that Timbaland didn't inspire us in music, I think that's just not true.

So, I wanted to really impress him, I wanted to work harder than he expected. And we ended up recording two songs in one night, staying as late as I need to, cutting as many vocals as I could and I was so honored.

In between your second album and this upcoming album, you put out a mixtape. Why did you decided to do that instead of another studio album?

Well my fans deserved new material and it was really frustrating to read things online and read their tweets, and it was not my intention to have this long gap in between albums. By releasing something online, I was able to do it on my terms. And not having the support of the label is actually totally fine. And I just kind of did it as a labor of love.

We didn't push it, we just put it out. Since I've recorded so many songs over these past two or three years, I just selected ones that I thought would make an eclectic bunch. I asked my friend, who is an amazing photographer, to do the album art. Did my own hair and makeup, swagged it out and just kept it moving! My fans deserved it, and I want to put something out because I get itchy. I get anxious.

Did it allow for more creative freedom?

I felt like I was able to take a little more risk, Yes, absolutely, and I think eventually I'll do another that will be even way more left. Why not? But I must say that I think I really got to stretch myself with my new album too. It's not a down-the-middle pop album. I got to satisfy my creative self.

What did you need to satisfy that doesn't fit into "down-the-middle pop?"

I just didn't want to chase after trends, or to work with this producer just because he's the hottest producer. I was inspired by people like Nelly Furtado and Aaliyah and Justin Timberlake, who worked with Timbaland, because they changed the sound of music. That is my intention, that's my goal. I didn't want to go for dance music, because that not my passion. And it's not about being self-indulgent, it's about being true.

You also graduated from high school and applied to college. Why did you decide not to go?

Good question. It was something that tormented me. I was really distraught over it. My mom on the one hand was saying, "Joanna, you should be a doctor, you should be a lawyer. You're smart, this industry is ridiculous; don't lose yourself in this, blah blah blah!" And then I felt in my heart, I don't feel like a whole person if I'm not writing and singing and performing.

And I would always wonder, if I went to college at 18, would I say "Damn, did I make the wrong decision?" Because my youth is ticking, but college will always be there. So, I really want to take the time to live and write and immerse myself in this project and know by the end of the day, I'm getting an awesome education in life, period. It's one of my goals to go on and get a degree and before I die, I'd like to get a doctorate. A girl can dream.

What would you study?

Cultural Anthropology. And I want to specifically study in Africa, doing study abroad.

The Singles Bar: JoJo, “Disaster”

Joanna "JoJo" Levesque is at that most critical part of her career: getting to a stage where "Leave (Get Out)" is never mentioned in reviews like this. So far, her strategy consists mainly of acting as teenly adult as she can: sex in "The Other Chick," prescription and other drugs in "Marvin's Room," all blatant enough to be mentioned but innocuous enough that nobody's really worried about her like they are for certain other Drake beneficiaries.

Next up is single "Disaster," properly hyped and, as you'll notice, rather familiar-sounding. Listen below:

Now we know who JoJo's really trying to emulate: Jordin Sparks. It's a better career model than you might think; both are fleeing clean tween images, and both skew R&B without having to insist that they do. (Joe Jonas, that'd be you.) And "Disaster" is a dead ringer for "Battlefield." The drums are huge, the guitars carve out caverns in the background, and JoJo roars through it all. We hear a bit of "Whatcha Say" in here as well, albeit without the Imogen Heap sample and without anything that made the track annoying.

Question is, though, will it work for JoJo? "Battlefield" certainly did well on radio, although between Jordin and Ryan Tedder, the name recognition/support levels were probably higher. We'd have to cede the edge to JoJo, though--on the bridge in particular, she shows more vocal dexterity than many peers and/or elders. And mediocre "changing, rearranging" and "I don't think I can take any more" lyrics aside, JoJo's not ripping off Pat Benatar's conceit. Disaster averted!

Every year, moms cringe when their high school senior casually says, “I just don’t think college is my thing.”

In 2009, JoJo dropped this very bombshell.

Known at home as Joanna Levesque, pop singer and former Foxboro kid JoJo was accepted at Northeastern University. But last fall, she deferred a year to work on her upcoming album, “Jumping Trains.” The first single, “Disaster,” leans toward Kelly Clarkson’s rocking pop.

This month, the 20-year-old is again skipping the chore of loading her worldly possessions into Stetson East. But she is back in Boston as the opener on the Joe Jonas/Jay Sean tour, which begins at the House of Blues on Tuesday.

“My mom made it clear that she wanted me to finish high school and go on to college and be a cultural anthropologist,” JoJo said from her adopted home of Los Angeles. “But after I finished high school, I did some soulsearching and made the decision to go out to L.A. and give my career the shot I thought I deserved.

“It was a really hard sell to my mom,” she added. “I honestly don’t know when she’ll be convinced it was the right move.”

It also may be a while until JoJo’s sure it was the right move.

JoJo had a platinum album at age 13. She scored her first, and only, Top 5 hit at 15. But other than a few acting roles (“Aquamarine,” “RV”) and guest spots on others’ albums, her resume in the last five years is thin.

With “Jumping Trains,” she, like tour mate Joe Jonas, begins the tough task of becoming an adult star. But unlike Jonas, she may benefit from her time out of the spotlight.

“I didn’t come up working for Disney or Nickelodeon, so I don’t feel these metaphorical chains I need to break free of with this album,” she said.

Fans who remember JoJo as a cute kid singing the national anthem at local sporting events may be in for a shock.

“When people who remember me as a little girl singing five years ago see me in black leather, it’s a little surprising,” she said.

The cast of Shark Night 3D helped kick off this year’s Comic-Con convention with an appropriately campy cocktail party last night in the parking lot of PETCO stadium. There, nestled somewhere between a mechanical shark and a “Bite Booth” (where fans could pose for photo-shopped shark attack pictures), the horror film’s star Sara Paxton, met with Movieline to chat about her maiden Comic-Con voyage and being temporarily blinded on the set of Shark Night 3D.

Is this your first Comic-Con?

Yes, I’m so excited!

What are you looking forward to seeing?

I can’t wait to be surprised because I don’t really know what to expect from the fans and the people in costumes.

There aren’t many people in costumes tonight but there is a mechanical shark. Did you get a chance to ride it?

I did but they didn’t really turn it on all the way. I think they were scared I’d hurt myself.

When I spoke to you last month about Shark Night 3D, you described being terrified of the mechanical sharks. Now that more time has passed since production, do you remember them more fondly?

Let me tell you a little something about these sharks again. They’re mechanical, okay? They’re life-size and they can swim 40 miles per hour at your face and they open their jaws, which have real shark teeth in them, and can come pretty close to ripping out your jugular sometimes. It was really, really scary. People on set were actually getting attacked by these mechanical sharks for real.

How do you mean?

They’re a little unpredictable. Just because there’s a guy out of the water “controlling” the shark doesn’t mean that it’s not going to veer to the left a little more than he wanted and bite the camera guy who starts bleeding everywhere. You know?

I’ll take your word for it.
It’s just another day at the office for us though. These sharks are like two tons so any bump or graze will cut people very quickly.

Did they injure you at all?

Luckily, I was fine. Although I did go blind that one day.

You say that so nonchalantly. What happened?

We had to keep our eyes open in the water for long periods of time and I went blind one day. I couldn’t see anything. There was chlorine in the tank and we’d have to be underwater for like 25 minutes at a time so after that much time in the tank, I went blind temporarily. But I slept it off.You weren’t scared that it would be permanent?
I mean, we had a set medic who was pretty competent. They just said that I would sleep and it would go away. Basically, my cornea was bleached or something. Apparently, your eye regenerates really fast.

That would have been a wild lawsuit otherwise.
It would have been. But I’m fine now.

Did you spend time with real sharks as part of your preparation for the role?

We did but when we got [to Louisiana], I didn’t really understand the whole “sharks in a lake” thing and all the locals were like [switches to Southern accent], “Yeah, y’all. It happens all the time. Bull sharks in the lake.” And I was really scared because there are gators, sharks and poisonous snakes.

A troublesome trio of lake creatures. And there was an armadillo that wandered around our set at night. [Leans over to co-star Dustin Milligan] Didn’t he have scabies or something?

Dustin: Now she tells me! First she tells me to open-mouth kiss an armadillo and then she tells me that it has scabies.

First Shark Night 3D Clip Swims in For a Quick Bite

The Hamptons was the place to be for a super sale over the weekend. The QVC Presents Super Saturday Live was a charity function for the celebrities to purchase items on Saturday for a special cause. The annual event benefits the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. While the stars love to come out and support, the fans watch at home as it has become a tradition for the channel.

The afternoon sale definitely was like no other. Sponsored by Emma Roberts and Kelly Ripa, there was a red carpet stroll in for all the celebrities as well as a lighthearted shopping experience, but it shouldn’t be a surprise as it is in the Hamptons after all.Some of the big names that took time from their schedule to support included Gayle King, Rachel Zoe, and Eddie Falco. Sharing their names in support of the special sale that was broadcast live, it was a chance to give back. The proceeds helped the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and those who watched the program came away better informed.

Singer JoJo may have experienced success with her 2006 single “Too Little, Too Late,” however she is now trying to focus her work on deeper thoughts with new track “Guardian Angel”.

The track will most likely be selected to be the lead single from her third studio album Jumping Trains, said to be released this coming Fall.

Growing up in a one-bedroom apartment in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Joanna Levesque, known as JoJo, started mimicking her mother’s singing at age of two.

"The Art of Getting By" is all about New York City kids on the cusp of adulthood. It's centered around slacker high school senior George (played by Freddie Highmore), the object of his affection, Sally (played by Emma Roberts) and her older artist beau, Dustin (played by Michael Angarano).

When the cast sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz on Tuesday night at the Pacific Design Center for Sneak Peek Week leading up to the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday, they revealed that they could totally relate to George's lack of interest in all things high school.

"Just terrible! So hard!" Elizabeth Reaser explained of her high school experience. "And so great because there's no real responsibility. I got one credit my freshman year."

Emma recalled a very different kind of high school experience. "I was homeschooled, so I kind of crashed all my friends' school functions like proms and football games and stuff, and that was enough for me," she joked. "I can't imagine having to go everyday. I'm sure I missed lots and lots of torture from people."

Meanwhile, Michael said that his actual high-school life seems to be perfectly conveyed in the flick. "I was very awkwardly in between being a cool guy and a nerd," he said. "I didn’t really fit into either of those. I was with a group of friends that was kind of just nice guys. When I did graduate it was very similar to the scene in this movie, where I may or may not graduate [because I had missed school because I was working as an actor]."

Emma Roberts, Chris Messina and Ari Graynor have signed on to join Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg in the romantic dramedy "Celeste and Jesse Forever."

Lee Toland Krieger ("The Vicious Kind") is directing the indie from a script by Jones and Will McCormack.

Story follows a young divorcing couple (Jones and Samberg) who try to maintain their long-standing friendship while living together and pursuing other relationships. Roberts will play a starlet who, when her career sags, helps the protagonist come out of her shell by hiring her to revamp her image. Messina plays a financial analyst who helps Celeste get over Jesse, while Graynor will play Celeste's best friend from college who's uncomfortable with her unusual arrangement.

Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd are producing for Team Todd along with Lee Nelson for Envision Media Arts. Project was previously set up at Fox Atomic and Overture Films before those companies shuttered.

Roberts recently starred in "Scream 4" and will soon be seen opposite Freddie Highmore in Fox Searchlight's "The Art of Getting By."

While reuniting original cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, Scream 4 also brings in a whole new cast of possible victims and sets the stage for further installments of the highly successful horror franchise. In the 11 years since Scream 3 was released, and with 15 years having passed since the debut of the first film, the world as well as the landscape of horror have changed, and all of that is taken into account while still nodding its head toward its origin. At the film’s press day, Scream newcomers Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere talked about what drew them to the franchise, being the new guys on set with the original trio of actors, working on a film that is so secretive, and what scares them in real life. Here’s the synopsis:

With director Wes Craven back at the helm, Sidney Prescott (Campbell) has returned home to Woodsboro, on the last stop of the book signing tour for her bestseller about overcoming personal trauma, only to find Sheriff Dewey (Arquette) and Gale Weathers (Cox) now married. But, while Sidney has found success, Gale’s career has stalled, putting strain on her relationship with Dewey. Meanwhile, Sidney goes to stay with her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell) and cousin Jill (Emma Roberts), whose friends are all convinced that Sidney’s presence will curse them. Unfortunately, Sidney’s appearance on the anniversary of the original murders quickly brings the return of Ghostface, who goes on a rampage in the small town of Woodsboro, putting everyone in danger.

Question: What was the draw of this for you guys? Were you fans of this franchise, or were you horror fans, in general?

EMMA ROBERTS: I was a huge fan of the franchise. I’m a huge fan of Wes Craven, and I thought the fact that he was coming back to direct this one meant it was going to be good, and I loved the part. I read the script and it was an interesting role. I’d never done a horror movie, so why not?

HAYDEN PANETTIERE: It’s an exciting thing to be a part of. For four years, I was on a show (Heroes) that was in the sci-fi and, at times, horror genre. Horror movies can really go one way or the other – they can go amazingly or they can go terribly – and it’s generally an extreme, in one way or the other, so you have to be very careful. And then, a film like this comes along. I love how long it’s been since the last film. It’s a sequel, but at the same time it’s a re-boot, and it’s a combination. It’s cleverly remembering where it comes from. It really uses the cliches to our benefit and has grown with the audience. As generations go on, they just get smarter and harder to scare. It’s a very cool movie and a fun thing to be a part of. Who wouldn’t want to be in Scream? I was sitting on set thinking, “Aren’t I supposed to be watching this movie? I don’t think I’m supposed to be here.” I never could have imagined myself on screen with Neve Campbell, screaming. It just didn’t make sense.

Emma, was it intimidating to be the new guy on this successful franchise, surrounded by the original cast?

ROBERTS: I don’t think I was intimidated coming into it, but I was definitely excited. I didn’t know what to expect, so I relinquished expectations and just went into it thinking, “I hope I have fun, I hope everyone’s cool, and I hope we make a good movie.” For the most part, I think that’s what happened, so I’m really happy.

ROBERTS: We didn’t have any say in anything.

PANETTIERE: Fortunately. I don’t know that you would want to have say in that.

Were you let in on who the killer was going to be?

ROBERTS: We had to keep everything a secret. You can’t trust actors.

PANETTIERE: Come on, I would lie to us!

How was it to shoot in Michigan? What did you do in your downtime?

ROBERTS: I feel like we all got cast and then thrown into it pretty quickly. We were in Michigan during the summer, and we all stayed near each other, so we would get together and go to dinner, and go out and hang out. It was really fun. It was a fun summer. Arbor is really fun. We had a really good time there.

PANETTIERE: It was a really cool thing to have the original cast there and to get to know them. Sometimes Neve would rent this cottage for a weekend and invite everyone out to have a barbecue, which is where Anthony [Anderson] and David [Arquette] almost set the trees on fire. We all got to really bond. It was very much like summer camp.

PANETTIERE: I actually had an experience where I thought somebody was breaking into my house. That’s got to be the most terrified I’ve ever been in my life. I don’t know if that’s saying much. The fear, especially as a female in a house by yourself, was horrible. There happened to be a blackout in the area that I was living in, at that time, so my alarm was going off, but nobody was coming. You go into this survival instinct mode, when you feel like your life is in jeopardy. I found myself in the bathroom with my taser, which I have 10 of, my panic button and my cell phone. It was the most terrifying experience I’ve ever had in my life. That desperation and that not knowing who was going to come or what would happen or what you would have to do is terrifying. I thought someone was breaking in, but I overreacted a little bit. I wound up crawling out my window to find five or six guns with the laser beams pointed at me. I was like, “Don’t shoot me, please! It’s me! It’s me! It’s my house!” They did eventually come, but they almost shot me. I’m not joking.

Did you get to try on the Ghostface mask at all?

PANETTIERE: I never went near that mask!

Now that Heroes is dead and buried, the cast has plenty of free time to move on to other projects, potentially even projects that have compelling storylines and logical character motivations. The Wrap reports that Milo Ventimiglia is moving on to the 3D thriller Static and will join Sara Paxton (Last House on the Left) and Sarah Shahi (The L Word).

The story centers on “a young couple (Ventimiglia and Shahi) who are on the verge of divorce after the loss of their child, but their world changes when a young visitor arrives, bringing supernatural implications to the household.” So it’s like Rabbit Hole but in 3D with supernatural implications! Score!Static will mark the feature directing debut of commercial director Todd Levin. Despite being in 3D, the film’s budget is set at less than $1 million and will control costs by using Sony’s PMW-F3 cameras, which are the company’s answer to the popular RED 3D camera.

The Scream 4 star talks in the magazine article about how she would never trust a man for fashion advice, and would rather get tips and advice from her female friends.

She told Seventeen magazine; "I never ask boys' opinions on clothes, ever. I really think, unless you think the guy has style, don't ask. So I only ask my girl friends. I don't trust guys' opinions on style!"

As well as saying that her crooked teeth give her character, "I have really crooked teeth - they give me character! We Robertses have too many teeth for our mouths." She also comments on the fact that she knows she'll never be a curvy actress;"Sexy when I was younger always meant boobs, and I've never had boobs in my life - so I always felt that sexy was out of the question for me. Emma Roberts has admitted she's finding it tough to keep Scream 4's plot twists under wraps.

The actress plays teenager Jill Roberts in the latest instalment of the slasher franchise, which promises as many shocks as the previous films.

"The secrecy part is really hard because you so want to run out and tell your friends every amazing part about it," she revealed.
Emma's co-star David Arquette, who reprises his role as Sheriff Dewey in the Wes Craven film, said he couldn't comprehend why people who'd seen the film would want to give away the ending.

"I hate people that spoil things for me when I'm going to see a film," he said.

"It's kind of a creepy personality trait: wanting to be the person that ruins things."

The filmmakers have worked hard to keep Scream 4 under wraps. Director Wes revealed the movie has only been shown six times ahead of media previews.

"We took everyone's cell phones, we made them sign non-disclosure agreements, and we went on the internet and watched all night to see who posted what... by and large, people honoured our plea to keep it a secret," he said.

The film, due for release in the UK later this month, also stars Courteney Cox, who separated from her husband and co-star David last year

The 20-year-old niece of Julia Roberts joins the cast of slasher movie Scream 4 as one of the victims of the masked killer but she found the experience much sweeter than she could ever have imagined.“One of the things that surprised me was that the fake blood they use smells like maple syrup,” says Emma.

“It smells delicious and because there was blood everywhere, the whole set smelled sweet. In fact it was so good I tasted it but it tastes really bad. So don’t try to taste the fake blood!”

Roberts recently insisted her “crooked” teeth give her “character”.

“I have really crooked teeth — they give me character! We Robertses have too many teeth for our mouths,” she said.

The State Press: When you saw the first “Scream” movie, did you ever dream of staring in one of the sequels?

Emma Roberts: It was one of those things that I never thought was a possibility. When this came up, I was so intrigued because it’s been so long since the last “Scream.” This seems like a perfect time for this one to come out.

SP: What appeals to you about the thriller/horror genre?

EM: I’m terrified of horror films but I’m a really big fan. Sometimes it’s just really fun to play a character that’s not just sitting around. It’s fun to run around and do some chase scenes and stuff like that.SP: What drew you to this project?

ER: It’s only once in a lifetime that you get to do a “Scream” movie. I thought it would be really incredible to get to work with Wes Craven, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. They had done the last three “Scream” movies, and if they were coming back, I knew this one had to be really amazing. They were all really fun to work with.

SP: Can you tell us how any of the victims in “Scream 4” get killed?

EM: I wish I could tell you. But I can’t. I will say that there’s a lot of blood. I ate some of the blood, and it tasted like maple syrup.

SP: What are some of the new rules of horror movies that “Scream 4” confronts?

EM: Virgins can die now.

SP: Were there any pranks on set?

EM: Wes Craven was the biggest prankster on set. He got everyone. There was this one scene Hayden [Panettiere] was supposed to open a closet and nobody was supposed to be in there. Then all of a sudden this guy pops out and scares the crap out of her. Then a couple days latter I fell for the same thing.

SP: What have you learned from your experience in “Scream 4?”

EM: Don’t go into parking structures at night without a friend. Don’t ever say, “I’ll be right back,” because you probably won’t be.

SP: What’s your favorite scary movie?

EM: “The Ring,” because it genuinely traumatized me for two years after I saw it.

She’d Kill for This Role

If your aunt is Julia Roberts and you’re trying to be a star, it must make you want to scream.

One of the most delicious bits of casting in Scream 4 is Emma Roberts, the 20-year-old niece of you-know-who. This latest sequel in the $500 million horror franchise features her as the imperiled Jill Roberts, the younger cousin of another celebrity: the perpetually stalked Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell). Jill comes off as a wallflower compared with the original Scream queen, but that’s the point.Scream has always thrived on the meta, with characters dragging out every slasher cliché. The films even feature a scary movie-within-a-movie called Stab. And Scream 4 is the most meta of all: the biggest horror isn’t the masked creep wielding a bloody knife, it’s the prospect of being eclipsed by your more famous relative.

That, of course, has been a challenge for Emma, who starred in the box-office disappointment Nancy Drew. Director Wes Craven says he cast her on talent alone, from an audition she did on Skype: “The whole thing with Julia, whom I’ve met, never occurred to us beyond the fact it’s interesting she’s her niece.”

Does Emma’s famous aunt give her career advice? “I mean, everyone asks me that,” she says. “We don’t talk about it. If your dad was a writer, and you want to be a writer, it’s not like you sit around talking about writing all day.” After Scream fans see her in action, we bet the Roberts they’ll be talking about is Emma.

Rides home from my best friend’s house after school brought a lot of entertaining experiences into my life, from the hilarious chats with my mom to the never-ending search for something good on the radio. During one such ride I was in the midst of changing the station from Q107.5 when I heard this rather confrontational lyric that made my ears perk up:

“Get out (leave)/ right now, it’s the end of you and me/ It’s too late (now) and I can’t wait for you to be gone/ Cause I know about her (who), and I wonder (why) how I bought all the lies/ You said that you would treat me right, but you were just a waste of time.” That was a 13-year-old, a new artist called JoJo, and I was intrigued. I made a mental note and did some research on her when I got home. This white girl from Boston had soul, and I knew I had to get her album to see what she was really about. Her debut was self-titled, included 14 tracks and of course, turned me into a fan. I listened to that album every day and by the end of the week knew the lyrics to every song, including the ad-libs. Oh, Miss JoJo was on it!“Not That Kinda Girl” caught my attention initially simply because it was different, independent—how I felt any girl should be in a relationship. She rapidly sang, “I’ma be up at the spot chilling with my crew, we’ll be hanging out/ Getting a little late you start bugging out, I don’t think it’s fair (no)/ You don’t like the clothes I wear, how I do my hair, I don’t really care/ ‘Cause it’s not for you, and I don’t have nothing to prove/ There can’t be any us if they can’t be any trust, nothing to discuss, no doubt, I’m not that kinda girl to let you play me out.”

One of my favorites on this album was “Homeboy,” which told the story of a boy and a girl who are best friends wanting to be much more, and I loved it because it described my exact predicament. “More than his voice is changing now/ all that I see is re-arranging now.” Yes, she was quickly becoming close to being brown sugar, and with her rendition of SWV’s “Weak” combined with her own ballads, “Never Say Goodbye” and “Fairy Tales,” she had reached the promised land.

JoJo had certainly formed her own genre of music, soul pop, because she had this amazingly soulful voice but the arrangement of her songs was very mainstream pop. Her second album, The High Road, really displayed this unique sound she possessed. The leading single, “Too Little, Too Late,” her most successful single to date, was very reminiscent of “Leave (Get Out).” It was a powerful “I’m moving on from you” song.

“So let me on down yes, time has made me strong/ I’m starting to move on, I’m going to say this now/ Your chance has come and gone, didn’t you know? It’s just a little too late, a little too long, and I can’t wait,” she sang. With this album you could see the evolution, not only of her vocals, but also of her songwriting. I thought she was brown sugar with her first album’s ballads, but she had really achieved elite status with her second single, “How To Touch a Girl” from The High Road. It was my favorite song by her, period.

Emma Roberts, who turns 20-years-old today, is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and the niece of Julia and Lisa Roberts who are both actresses.

When Emma was a child, she would accompany her acting family to the film sets where she would spend several hours watching the professionals at work. It didn't come as a surprise to anyone that she would soon be bitten by the acting bug. By the time she was nine, she made up the cast of the movie Blow where she played Kristina Jung with Johnny Depp as her father, a cocaine smuggler.

Emma Roberts Is The Only Human Being Who Hasn't Read 'The Hunger Games'

Emma Roberts may not have made the shortlist of actresses included in our recent "Who should play Katniss?" poll, but that doesn't mean the 19-year-old "Scream 4" star doesn't have a loyal fanbase hoping to see her wield a bow and arrow in the upcoming film adaptation of "The Hunger Games." So when we spoke with Emma at the Sundance Film Festival, where she was promoting her high school romance "Homework," we had to ask if she was a fan of the dystopian series.

"I'm the only human being on the face of the planet who hasn't read 'The Hunger Games,'" she said. "I own them; I just haven't read them. I hear it's really awesome. I mean, all of my friends are like, 'Go home and read it now.' So I have to read it."

We know of at least one other starlet who has yet to take a trip to Panem, but that's really no excuse, Emma. Cave to the peer pressure! You won't regret it.

Though she hasn't come down with a case of "Hunger Games" fever, Emma is familiar with the film project. When asked by our own Josh Horowitz if she's been approached about the role, Emma responded, "I've heard about it. But yeah, no details. We'll see."

Most high school movies have a stock cast of cut-and-dried characters. You know—the Mean Girl, the Artist, the Jock, the Nerd...and of course, the Guy Who Smells Like Paint And Keeps His Farts In Jars. But according to Emma Roberts, her latest role in the Sundance Film Festival flick "Homework" is totally not like that."What I loved about her is on paper, she could very much be the cliche of the popular girl," Emma explained. "But the way she's written, and the way I tried to play her, was that there's more to her than that."

And those less-complicated characters from other teen movies? Apparently, they drive her crazy.
"I hate in teen movies when someone's categorized as 'You're this, not that,'" she said. Meanwhile, her "Homework" alter ego, Sally, "kind of had that edge to her, but she was also really genuine."

Still, there's no question that Sally has certain qualities of the stereotypical Mean Girl—particularly when it comes to her treatment of the poor, benighted boy who loves her (played by Freddie Highmore.) So, what about that?

"I felt bad," she admitted, although she also added that there were no hard feelings between the two stars: "Freddie and I had really good off-camera banter—we had good chemistry, as they say."

But when it comes to Emma's own romantic history, she's less likely to share any details. Pressed whether she'd ever cruelly led someone on, she told us, "I try not to..."—only to hastily add, "No comment!"

JOANNA JOJO LEVESQUE is a multi-platinum recording artist who made her professional acting debut at the age of eight at the Huntington Theater in Boston in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.Levesque was appearing in several local Boston-area television and radio commercials when offers for recording contracts started to flood in. Hawaii Five-O Episode 1.15 Review

Hawaii Five-O scored the post-conference championship time slot this year, and you can't say this episode didn't make the most of it: we've got a tsunami, the return of Steve's girlfriend Catherine Rollins, and Scott Caan finally getting to show that Alex O'Loughlin isn't the only one who looks good without a shirt on. (Hey, he held his own with a shirtless Paul Walker, remember?)

If this were any other show, I'd be crying "stunt episode" by now, but not with this one - because the tidal wave functions as an impetus for the hunt for a missing scientist.

It’s never going to end. That is, casting for Garry Marshall’s romantic comedy NEW YEAR’S EVE will never end. Today we learn that MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE star Frankie Muniz and Sara Paxton have joined the humongous cast that includes: Alyssa Milano, Katherine Heigl, Sienna Miller, Zac Efron, Lea Michele, Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Hilary Swank, Abigail Breslin, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sofia Vergara, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Ice Cube and Ryan Seacrest. Shooting should have already begun.

See, now I’m starting to question this film. It seems with all of these characters the story line becomes more and more diluted. I’m feeling pretty sure Marshall didn’t have half as many people lined up for VALENTINE’S DAY and let’s be honest in saying that the plot there was a little thin. Maybe some of these are more along the lines of cameos as opposed to actual parts, except for Ryan Seacrest- please don’t give him more lines than he can handle.
